Canada-Nigerian Student Express Entry Program For Study Permit

Canada is among the top destinations to study for international students. Based on CIC news releases, Nigerians were ranked fourth most represented nations among Canada’s new PR in 2019. This is not a surprise due to the services obtainable to students from Nigeria who desire to study in Canada. In this aspect, Canada presented a new pilot scheme, the NSE (Nigerian Student Express), for potential international students from Nigeria pursuing to study at the nation’s institutions. This ambition is intended to improve the study permit application procedures faster.

The Nigerian Student Express Initiative

Before the advent of the NSE, the average processing time for study permit requests for Nigerian students was about three weeks. However, with the Nigerian Student Express, the student in Nigeria can currently process their study permit in 20 days less. Immigration, Refugee and Citizenship Canada declared in a tweet, “Nigerian Student Express is a pilot ambition at our Visa Office in Lagos targeted at facilitating processing durations for study permit candidates in Nigeria who are intending to study at the institutional level in Canada. In January 2020, It was presented to potential students and their parents at EduCanada fairs in Abuja and Lagos.

The Nigeria Student Express varies from the Student Direct Stream. Though they are formed to expedite study permit procedures for students, Student Direct Stream is only obtainable to students from Morocco, Vietnam, China, the Philippines, India, Senegal, and Pakistan. Hence, the Nigerian Student Express (NSE) is only for students coming from Nigeria who have obtained acknowledgment letters for degree courses. The Nigerian Student Express (NSE) uses various monetary confirmations described as MyBankStatement.
